GAA 125 Celebrations
GAA 125 Celebrations- Lá na Scoileanna
In 2009 the GAA is celebrating 125 years in existence. On 24th April 2009 Lá na Scoileanna was held in Rineen N.S and it was a wonderful day of celebration. The pupils came to school in an array of colourful jerseys. They also brought in flags, photos of GAA teams, medals and GAA memorabilia. Pupils played football ‘Go Games’ in Miltown GAA field with the other school pupils from the parish. Our local football star ‘Joe Cullen’ brought on his football medals and spoke to the pupils. He also sang “Lovely Old Miltown” as only he can! On Thursday 23rd April the Senior Pupils went to the Michael Cusack Centre in Carron and learned about his life. The Junior Pupils painted the flags of the 32 Counties and displayed them on the school windows. All in all it was a most enjoyable week and the pupils learned about the history and foundation of the GAA.
